Cafés where dogs are welcome both inside and outside

  • Espresso House is a popular café for those who want to have a coffee break or a light lunch in the midst of the city's hustle and bustle. The menu offers a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, as well as pastries, sandwiches, and salads.
  • Hamnkaféet is one of Kalmar's oldest cafés, with a history dating back to the 1930s. Here you can have a coffee break or a light lunch. In the summer, there are two outdoor seating areas – one with a view of the Kalmar Strait and one in the lush backyard.
  • Café Lotsutkiken is located by the sea and is both a restaurant and a café. The building was used as a pilot lookout before a new pilot station was built in 1955.
  • Ölandschoklad Bistro & Deli serves pastries, ice cream, and chocolate in a tasteful environment. There are also hearty options for the hungry and a deli counter for those who want to take something delicious home with them.
  • Skälby 4H Farm Café serves, among other things, pastries and cookies baked with the farm’s own free-range eggs. They also offer sandwiches and light lunches. When you’re done with your fika, you can check out the farm animals and play in the large playground.
  • Tjorven Café and Museum is located in Rockneby and is a year-round café with a retro vibe. Here you can have coffee, lunch, and check out the world’s only Tjorven museum. The small cult car Tjorven was manufactured by Kalmar Verkstad between 1969 and 1971.

  • Kullzenska caféet is a cozy café decorated in a 19th-century style. It is located in the Kullzenska house, a well-preserved building from the 1770s. The café's assortment includes everything from sweets to savory pies and sandwiches.
  • Mormors Brödbod & Café is a small, cozy café that offers bread from its own stone oven bakery, coffee breaks, and light lunches. The focus is on organic ingredients, and the rich café assortment includes cakes, buns, and raw food pastries.
  • Konditori Fiesta is located near Larmtorget in central Kalmar. For those craving a coffee break, there is a wide selection of sweets, but there are also sandwiches, pies, and salads if you want a light lunch.
  • Conditori König is a traditional patisserie that offers everything from cookies and pastries to various types of bread. The location at Stortorget provides a view of the cathedral and several other beautiful buildings.
  • Le Croissant is a French coffee house and bistro located at the town square Larmtorget in the same premises as Ben & Jerry's. Here you can enjoy both a coffee break or a light meal.
  • Ekelunds konditori is a cozy little patisserie located on Esplanaden, about a 10-minute walk from the city center. Here you will find cookies, pastries, cakes, and bread, as well as ready-made sandwiches and salads.
  • Holmgrens konditori is located in the middle of the town and is a truly classic Kalmar patisserie that has been around for 150 years. Here you will find a wide range of pastries, baked goods, cookies, and sandwiches.
  • Johannas Choklad is a café for chocolate lovers. Here you can sit down and enjoy a good coffee break, but you can also see how chocolate is made or buy something delicious from the shop.
  • Gelato Factory is an ice cream bar with a wide range of homemade gelato, made with carefully selected ingredients.
  • Danska Wienerbageriet is located on Norra vägen and has a 100-year-long history. Here you can sit on a bar stool and have a coffee break or buy pastries, bread, and cakes to take home.
  • Krusenstiernska gården is located in the old town, and dates back to the 18th century. During the summer months, you can enjoy a coffee break in this green oasis, where the garden’s own harvest is used in the delicious pastries. Homemade dog treats are also served!
  • Hossmo Gård has a charming café that is open on weekends for much of the year. The farm has roots dating back to the 19th century and has been renovated with great respect for the building's history.
  • Påryds Lantcafé is located southwest of the city center and is open year-round. Here you can enjoy both coffee, snacks, and lunch.
  • Villa Karlsro opened its doors at Easter 2025 and offers a cozy café as well as a shop with inspiring home décor items.
  • Café Brygghuset is a café that opens up in the garden of Stufvenäs Gästgifveri during the summer months. Here you can enjoy homemade sandwiches and pastries.
  • Solmarka Gård, located in Vassmolösa south of the city center, opens both a farm shop and a café during the summer months.
  • Ekenäs Hantverksbageri is located in the charming community of Ekenäs south of Kalmar. Here you can buy bread and pastries for take away. The bakery is closed during the spring but reopens for the summer.
