Experience Kalmar with your dog

Are you experiencing Kalmar with your dog? Here you'll find both dog and human-friendly tips for your stay.
Kalmar is a pedestrian-friendly city where you're close to various types of experiences. Within walking distance, there are several beautiful parks and green areas to stroll around in – and if your dog needs to stretch its legs or cool off, there are several dog parks and dog bathing spots to stop by.
Most hotels offer rooms for dogs, but they are popular, so remember to request a dog-friendly room when booking. There are also many restaurants that welcome dogs both indoors and outdoors.
The right of public access
The right of public access (Allemansrätten) is a unique privilege that grants everyone the freedom to explore Sweden’s nature. It is built on the idea of shared responsibility, requiring everyone to respect wildlife, nature, landowners, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
Dogs are welcome to join you in nature, but from March 1 to August 20, they must be kept on a leash to protect wildlife. For the rest of the year, it's strongly recommended to keep your dog on a leash, and in Kalmar leashing is mandatory in nature reserves, parks, jogging trails and in public areas in Kvarnholmen, Varvsholmen, Ängö, Malmen, the Old town and Bremerlyckan. Keep yourself updated on local regulations.
