7 Art Galleries

Got an eye for art? Apart from the Kalmar art museum, the city has several cosy art galleries. Below are just a few.

• Teatergalleriet is run by a non-profit organization since 1984. This is a place for professional artists to display their work.
• Galleri Svalan showcases contemporary graphic art. The gallery was previously located in Öland, but since 2018 it is located on Ängö, right outside central Kalmar.
• Galleri Matz Nordell is beautifully located in the Old Town. Here, artist Matz Nordell works with a variety of techniques and materials, often using bright and bold colors.
• Galleri Johan Persson is located at the entrance to Slottsallén, Järnvägsgatan 1. The artist now takes his inspiration from Kalmar as well as from the island Öland
• Galleri Art by Rimsberg is located at Kaggensgatan 7 in central Kalmar and is run by Marie Rimsberg.
• Galleri Västerport is run by glass artist Robert Oldergaarden, who showcases his unique glass art, sometimes with the inclusion of guest artists. The cozy gallery is located in the city gate Västerport.
• Galleri Engleson is located at Storgatan 57, and art has been displayed in the premises since the 1990s. Here, artists can rent space to exhibit their works.
