A walk among the glittering lights
It is lovely indeed, when the lights shine on Kalmar in winter time. Don’t miss out on the beautiful Kalmar sign, which has a new location every year. In Kvarnholmen, the heart of Kalmar, you’ll feel the echoes of history. Why not take a walk along the city wall and look out over the town? Take the opportunity to wander through the alleys of Old Town, where you can see beautiful houses from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Castle, the County Museum and the Art Museum always have exciting exhibitions to offer.
Visit an art gallery
Kalmar has several smaller galleries showcasing contemporary art. Be sure to check them out during gallery weekends.

Kalmar’s charming city centre is located on the island of Kvarnholmen. It has a wealth of cosy cafés and restaurants. Some are even listed in the White Guide.
